2011- A Look Back

I can't even believe how much has happened in 2011. It was probably the most eventful year of my life, to date. Since it's the last day of this extraordinary year, I want to take a look back, and see how far I've come!

  • I moved to Orem, and with it came home improvements galore! January was a very busy month!
  • Got a job working at Young Living. And hated every second of it.
  • Took bridal pictures in the snow. Freezing and miserable experience.
  • I GOT MARRIED!! To the man of my dreams!
  • Went on our honeymoon. Probably the funnest week ever!
  • Started this new blog.
  • Got accepted into the Education Program.
  • Went to the Sand Dunes for the first time. Thought I was going to die.
  • Grandpa TJ passed away. Trying to adapt to life without him or my Grandpa Jim.
  • Got called to Nursery Leaders :]
  • Watched SYTYCD every single Wednesday and Thursday night. Never failed.
  • Went to baseball games, 7 peaks, and Trafalga. Our regular summer activities.
  • Went boating, and got up on the Wakeboard! For just a few seconds.
  • Quit my job. So long suckers :]
  • Our first camping trip. I burnt the dinners and we hiked miles to go fishing. We caught so many!
  • Started school as a Education Major.
  • We bought a dog! We love our Honey Bee.
  • Mika rolled his truck.
  • Jordan's birthday! And that aweful emergency vet visit. So sad.
  • Rascal Flatts concert.
  • BYU Football Games. Season Ticket Holders :]
  • Baby Presley was born!
  • SYTYCD Tour Concert! Best concert ever!
  • SURPRISE SURPRISE!! We're PREGNANT!!
  • One of my best friends got married!
  • Turned 21 years young!
  • Saw my baby for the first time!
These are just a few highlights, it surprises me I've had time to breathe this year! It's funny how you sit around thinking that you've had a boring week, or noneventful days, then you recap and you surprise yourself about how busy you really have been. And how much you've grown. I look back a year ago today, newly engaged and eager to start new, and I'm amazed. So much can happen so fast. I think it's just another reminder to hold on to your memories, and enjoy it while it lasts. So much can change in a year..

Gender Anticipation

I've been wanting to post this for a long time! I want to know what gender of baby I'm having, so I thought I would research some old wives tales and see just how accurate they turn out to be! So without further wait, Let's Research!! :)

#1- Carrying The Baby
If you carry the baby high with a big, round belly, then it's a girl. If you carry the baby low with a small belly that sticks straight out, then it's a boy. I'm not showing enough yet, so...
Verdict: UNDECIDED

#2- Ring Test
Using a string, hang your wedding ring over your pregnant belly. You are having a girl if the ring swings back and forth. You are having a boy if it swings in a circle.
Verdict: BOY!

#3- Key Test
This test involves a key.  If you pick up a key at the top (the roundest part), you are going to have a boy.  If you pick up the key at the bottom (smallest part), you are going to have a girl.  If you happen to grab the key in the middle, congrats, it’s twins!
Verdict: BOY!

#4- Mayan Tale
The Mayan tale adds the mothers age at conception and the year of conception.  If the result is a even number then mom is having a girl.  If the result is an odd number then a boy is on the way!
Verdict: BOY!

#5- Acne Test
If you have acne while pregnant, it’s a girl.  It’s thought that acne during pregnancy is caused by the extra hormones. They say a girl steals her mom's beauty. I have been breaking out lately, so.....
Verdict: GIRL!

#6- Parent History
You can find out the sex by going off of your parent’s kids and the order.  If you are the first born, you will have what your mother had but starting with her second child.  If you are the middle child, you will have what she said, but starting with the third child.  If you are the last child, you will have what your mother had in the exact order.  I think this tale only works when the parent’s had three kids.
Verdict: BOY!

#7- Chinese Gender Chart
Follow this chart, it's said to be 90% accurate!
Verdict: GIRL!

#8- Dreams
If you have dreams that you are having a boy, you will have a girl.  If you dream about having a girl, it will be a boy.  Dreams show the opposite of what you are having. I've only had dreams of having girls, so.....
Verdict: BOY!

#9- Sleeping Sides
If a pregnant woman prefers to lay on her left side, she’s having a boy.  If she prefers resting on her right side, she’s having a girl.
Verdict: BOY!

#10- Food Cravings
Some believe that if you’re craving sweets, you’re probably having a girl, which craving salt, it’s probably a boy. However, I haven't been craving anything.
Verdict: UNDECIDED

#11- Face Shape
If your face is getting rounder and more full, your having a girl. If it is long and narrow, your having a boy. Well, my face is naturally long and narrow...so as of right now....
Verdict: BOY!

#12- Dry Hands
If you have severe dry hands, your having a boy.
Verdict: GIRL!

#13- Headaches
If you have had an increase of headaches, your having a boy.
Verdict: GIRL!

THE SCORE
BOY!: 7          GIRL!: 4
Chances are...it's a little man! ;)

We're A Little Behind

Try 2 weeks.
Turns out I wasn't as far along as I thought I was.
Jordan and I went to the doctor on December 9th, and it was too fun! I was so relieved to find out that all is well, and the baby is fine :] The most exciting part about the appointment was the ultrasound!! Oh, my goodness! It was amazing :] Dr. Skinner had trouble finding our little jelly bean at first, but then it appeared, and it was an incredible sight! He took measurements of the baby and told me I was only barely 9 weeks along, so my due date, the official one is....July 14th :] Also, my eyes were glued to the ultrasound screen the entire time, until I blinked. And wouldn't you know it, right when I blinked, the baby moved!! Its legs came up by its head, kind of in a crunch, really, really fast...and everybody saw it but me :( I was so sad!!! The doctor tried to make him/her do it again and it wouldn't :( I missed my first baby's movement. lol Dang it!! But we did get to see the heart beat, we didn't get to hear it yet though. It just flickered very quickly, it was amazing to see. Dr. Skinner said he/she is about the size of a jelly bean, but hopefully by the time I'm writing this message, its a little bigger than a gummy bear :] Just a few more things from week 10 (actual week 10)
  • All that comes to mind is my, oh, my you have made me SICK! So Sick! During finals week I was throwing up in the morning, right when I got home, and that night before dinner. Then I got the stomach flu last week and I was a goner.
  • Luckily, the doctor has prescribed me very expensive nausea pills, so I can be healthy again! I finally can eat again!
  • I haven't been feeling as tired.. however, a nap every once in a while is very nice!
  • We are clearing out your room, and painting it tomorrow!! We're so excited!
  • You are already spoiled. We have been getting Christmas presents for you from family and they LoVe you! So do we!
  • I don't really have any cravings. Just trying to recover from the sickness!
  • Our next appointment : January 11! So excited to see you again!
