Christmas Holiday

One of the most exciting moments of my life. = Playing Santa Claus. For the first time.
I seriously couldn't wait for the 25th of December to come rolling around. I was super excited for this even before Keagan was born. I am here to inform you that being Santa, in my opinion, is so much better than receiving from Santa. I can tell that this is one of many joys and excitements of being a parent! :]

Well, Christmas was exciting this year! Keagan was sick the whole time, poor little guy! But he still is a trooper and had a good, happy time! Our holiday started Friday, the 21st, when we packed (clear full) the truck and drove to Nephi while I prayed that nothing flew out the back. We had the Lunt Family Christmas Party, and Keagan loved to see Santa. He wasn't scared at all, he just stared at him with big eyes, and hit and tried to eat his beard. We stayed in Nephi until Sunday night when we went to the Mason Family Christmas Party, where Keagan saw Santa again :] He was feeling really sick this day so he didn't take to this Santa very well :( On Christmas Eve, we went bowling at the new bowling alley in Richfield. Later that night when Keagan went to sleep, Jordan and I went to work trying to get everything set up for Christmas. Needless to say, we stayed up until 1 in the morning trying to put everything together. We were laughing so hard at each other, you could tell we were new at this. But finally we got it together and went to bed. Keagan woke up at 8, and that's when our Christmas started :]
From Santa, Keagan got:

  • a bouncer
  • high chair
  • basketball hoop
  • interactive car steering wheel
  • clothes
  • shoes
  • movies
  • remote control
  • DVD players for the car
  • Hot Wheels Cars
  • other little toys
  • food
  • other baby essentials
Mommy made him a blanket
Daddy bought him a little four wheeler.

Keagan got spoiled thats for sure! Here are some pictures to help tell the rest of our holiday story!

Reconnect

Yesterday was conference and Sister Rosemary Wixom gave a wonderful talk about raising a family. One quote I was particularly drawn to was:
"Why not choose a time each day to disconnect from technology and reconnect with your children?"
This wasn't the only time in conference where a person talked about the effects of technology on the home. I thought about this, even before conference. I really had to refocus when Keagan was born. I found myself on Facebook and Pinterest nearly constantly back in the day, but I have tried to make a concious effort to not be when Keagan is awake. I actually think I have done pretty well! It's my rule: no Facebook or Pinterest (or even homework) when Keagan is awake. I want him to have all my attention. I save it all for when he goes to bed at night. And I have actually liked it a lot, it's nice to not feel so commited to the computer. I may get on the internet every once in a while during his naps (but usually I am to busy running around trying to get things done) but I think about this rule everyday. After all, nothing is better than spending my day with my little man :]
